Emergency management serves the community by providing guidance and direction in the event of large-scale emergency incidents.

In June 2003, George Albert became the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City. George became a member of the St. Joseph Fire Dept. in 1982. He was promoted to Chief Training Officer in December 2001 and completed his duties in that office in July 2005. Mr. Albert has earned an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Penn Valley College. He holds Missouri State Certifications as an EMT, Firefighter I, II, Fire Instructor II and Fire Officer I. Presently he is also employed as lead instructor for the St. Joseph School District’s Fire Academy located at Hillyards Technical School.
