The Animal Shelter's goal is to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases (diseases communicable from animals to humans under normal conditions) and to ensure proper care and humane handling of animals within the community.
All dogs and cats adopted from the shelter are spayed or neutered and vaccinations begun before going to their new homes. Prices for these services vary with the species, sex and size of the animal.

This list is maintained by the Friends of the Shelter. These pages do not show all the animals at the shelter, and an animal shown may not still be available.

See Animal Control FAQ's for more information on how to adopt our Pet of the Week or another deserving animal available at our Animal Shelter.

NOTICE TO PET OWNERS: Pet owners need to purchase a breeders permit if they intend to allow their dog or cat to breed. The cost of the breeders permit is $20.00. If they fail to obtain a breeders permit and are in possession of a litter of puppies or kittens they are then required to obtain a litter permit for $100.00. The permits are only available from Animal Control and Rescue. They may receive a refund of $50.00 if they have the female spayed within thirty days of purchase of the litter permit. Failure to obtain the appropriate permit can result in a summons to appear in municipal court and if found guilty assessed a fine of not less than $100.00.
