Recreational Opportunities
The hike and bike trails provide a safe alternative system for bicycle and pedestrian travel throughout the community. This system parallels the parkway system and gives the biker or pedestrian a constant beautiful scenic view as well as being free from vehicular traffic.

Noyes Tennis Complex has 12 outdoor courts and hosts all local high school matches and tournaments, home matches for Missouri Western State University, and a USTA Women’s Tournament. Hyde Park has three outdoor courts, as does North Side Complex and Corby Grove. These courts are more of a recreational nature.

The St. Joseph Parks and Recreation Department will host a youth tennis program during the months of June and July at the Noyes Tennis Center. The program will be divided into three age divisions.

Outdoor pickleball courts are located at the Bode Sports complex (3). The St. Joseph Parks and Recreation Department will host an outdoor Pickleball League in September and October. For more information, please call 816-271-5518.

Indoor pickleball courts are located at the St. Joseph REC Center (6). The St. Joseph REC Center offers open gym pickleball on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. For more information please call 816-271-5512.


Adult cornhole leagues are currently available in the fall.  This five week league consists of doubles matches played at the Heritage Park Softball Complex.  For more information about registering for cornhole, please contact David Cavin at 816-271-5518 or via email at .

Horseshoe courts are located at Noyes Athletic Complex (16), Hyde Park (four), John Lucas Center, and Northside Complex. Approximately four tournaments a year are held at Noyes Athletic Complex. For information on tournaments, please call 816-232-5577.

Nature Trail
Located behind the four acre Corby Pond, this popular trail can be accessed from the northeast side of the pond off the parkway. Mammals, birds, trees, and vegetation highlight this scenic trail utilized for educational trips and nature enthusiasts.
