Recreational Opportunities
Parkway Run
Held each year on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, this annual event attracts athletes of all ages, ability levels, and from all over the country. The Parkway Run features 5K and 15K runs, as well as a 5K fun walk. For information on participating or volunteering for this event call 816-271-5500.

Trails
The hike and bike trails provide a safe alternative system for bicycle and pedestrian travel throughout the community. This system parallels the parkway system and gives the biker or pedestrian a constant beautiful scenic view as well as being free from vehicular traffic.

Tennis
Noyes Tennis Complex has 12 outdoor courts and hosts all local high school matches and tournaments, home matches for Missouri Western State University, and a USTA Women’s Tournament. Hyde Park has three outdoor courts, as does North Side Complex and Corby Grove. These courts are more of a recreational nature.

The St. Joseph Parks and Recreation Department will host a youth tennis program during the months of June and July at the Noyes Tennis Center. The program will be divided into three age divisions.

Horseshoes
Horseshoe courts are located at Noyes Athletic Complex (16), Hyde Park (four), John Lucas Center, and Northside Complex. Approximately four tournaments a year are held at Noyes Athletic Complex. For information on tournaments, please call 816-232-5577.

Nature Trail
Located behind the four acre Corby Pond, this popular trail can be accessed from the northeast side of the pond off the parkway. Mammals, birds, trees, and vegetation highlight this scenic trail utilized for educational trips and nature enthusiasts.

City Recreation Track Meets
Typically held in May, the Recreation Girls and Boys School track meets attract a large number of elementary students competing for city wide honors. Administrated by the parks, recreation, and civic facilities department in conjunction with the St. Joseph School District, participants and teams are chosen by the elementary school coaches and represent their individual school.
