2012 Rain Barrel Art Contest
Seven St. Joseph schools participated in a Rain Barrel Art Contest. The artwork barrels were showcased on an Apple Blossom Parade float. Our thanks to these schools for their participation:

Corby Pond Water Quality Improvement Project
The Missouri Master Naturalist 2012 Class, Loess Hills chapter, has adopted Corby Pond and is working with the City of St. Joseph and several other community partners to improve the pond’s water quality. Community partners involved in this project include:
  • Missouri Department of Conservation Fisheries, providing fish population inventory and water depth information
  • Webster Learning Center students are providing mapping, evaluating water quality and macro-invertebrates
  • Missouri Western State University Human Ecology class, providing a plant inventory
  • Missouri University Extension, consulting
  • St. Joseph Mountain Bikers, assisting with removal of invasive plant species
  • St. Joseph Water Garden Society, providing consultation on aquatic plants
  • City of St. Joseph, providing consultation, invasive plant species disposal, bank stabilization, and future pond dredging
