Both parks will be open each evening through January 1st, 2008 from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. Holiday Park (a.k.a. Krug Park) drive is closed during the day during the holidays. The park is aglow with lights and waiting for you. There is no admission to drive through the park. The East Hills Optimists have set a donation booth at the end of your drive. The donations help to add to the displays and update and enhance existing displays.

Over 100,000 visitors tour Holiday Park annually . It is the largest display in Northwest Missouri and precedes the Kansas City area park displays. The East Hills Optimists, in cooperation with the Parks, Recreation and Civic Facilities Department, have sponsored the park since its first opening December 5th, 1981. Volunteers and contributors have made this dream of a winter wonderland in Krug Park a reality over the years. Hyde Park displays started with a big Merry Christmas sign in 1993. The dream is to eventually adorn the nine-mile parkway linking one park to the other.

The Westab/Mead Santa & Reindeer display proved to be a very special addition to the park three years ago and is the design on the 2007 Holiday Park ornament. This is second is the series and is available for only $5 at the Parks Offices at 1920 Grand Avenue, Bode Sports Complex, JRP Senior Center and the City Clerk’s office at City Hall.
St. Joseph is the place to be this holiday season. Make it a point to get out to see Holiday Park and Hyde Park.
