The Bertha Vollmer House is a two story, frame National style residence located in one of St. Joseph’s oldest neighborhoods. This delightful old structure features has 2/2 windows and a charming fish-scale embellished gable on its façade. The Bertha Vollmer House is located on the east side of North 3rd street right across from Robidoux Row, St. Joseph’s earliest known structure. I am not sure exactly when this structure was built, but it does appear on the 1883 Sanborn Fire Insurance map. It appears this residence was originally a store with a second floor living quarters and it was converted into a residence around 1888 by Mrs. Bertha Vollmer.
