2009 National Law Enforcement Challenge
The National Law Enforcement Challenge provides law enforcement agencies with an opportunity to make a significant difference in the communities they serve. The Challenge is a friendly competition between similar sizes and types of law enforcement agencies that recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in the United States. It is coordinated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and is supported by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This competition is a unique way for law enforcement agencies to increase their attention to traffic safety. It provides opportunities for recognition of exemplary programs, incentive for continuing traffic safety activities, and documentation of agency effectiveness.
The program is designed to strengthen and support traffic enforcement nationwide and targets three major safety priorities: occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding. Participating agencies are asked to provide documentation on their agencies efforts and effectiveness in areas of officer training, public information, and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries.
2009 Annual Report
Thank you for taking
time to review the St.
Joseph Police Department
Annual Report.
2009 was a year filled with new challenges and
opportunities. We continue to make progress in making
today’s vision tomorrow’s reality. Over the last
several years we had the opportunity to make some
major changes in hardware and software; including
Mobile Data, and a new 911 system. With additional
focus on process improvement in 2009, we have more
and better information available in the field and have
been able to significantly improve our priority one response
times. We are also beginning to feel the benefit
of additional resources brought on by stimulus funding.
