Two retired police officers staff the Teleserve Unit. Galen Streeter and Byron Weed take police reports from citizens who wish to make reports for most non-violent crimes at the Law Enforcement Center or by telephone. Teleserve writes a significant number of all non-violent crime reports taken by the Police Department and handles many calls for service that would have otherwise required a police officer to respond. With this service available to citizens, police officers are better able to respond to priority calls and crimes in progress.
