  1. Learn to Hockey Skate Classes

    January 10, 2019, 8:00 AM - January 14, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Bode Sports Complex

    Learn to hockey skate classes are scheduled for 5:30-6:30 pm on Thursday evenings and include 30 minutes of hockey skating elements, use of helmets and hockey skates, a practice card good for 6 free public sessions during the session dates. Skaters are divided into levels with classes ranging from beginner to advanced. All skaters must be able to stand and walk in skates without assistance. All skaters must complete level 2 of the learn to hockey skate program before being admitted in the learn to play hockey program. In the event that the St. Joseph School District cancels classes due to winter weather, there will not be class that evening. The missed class will be made up at the end of the six-week session. Registration forms are available at and must be turned into Bode Ice Arena. Please contact Bode Ice Arena at (816) 271-5506 for additional information.

  2. Learn to Play Hockey Class Registration

    January 10, 2019, 8:00 AM - January 14, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Bode Sports Complex

    Pre-requisite: Must have completed Level 2 of the Learn to Hockey Skate Program before being admitted to these classes. The six-week Learn to Play Hockey session includes 15 minutes of stick and puck handling, 15 minutes of skating drills, 30 minutes of scrimmage time, use of equipment (elbows, gloves, helmet, shines stick), and practice card good for 6 free public sessions during the session dates. Sessions are scheduled for Thursday evenings from 6-7 pm. Registration forms may be picked up and returned to Bode Ice Arena.   3. Learn to Skate Classes

    Registration for Learn to Skate USA classes is underway at Bode Ice Arena. This is a six week program where ice skaters learn to skate, focus, be creative, and build confidence in their ice skating ability. Registration forms are available at Bode Ice Arena and must be returned to Bode Ice Arena. Classes take place on Monday evenings, Thursday afternoons or Thursday evenings.   1. Adult Cornhole League (six game league) Registration

    January 10, 2019, 2:15 PM - January 23, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Parks Administration Offices

    The St. Joseph Parks, Recreation, & Civic Facilities Department will host an indoor adult cornhole league on Wednesday nights at Fairview Golf Course, 3202 Pacific Street. The league will only consist of doubles matches. Cornhole or bean bag toss is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point. Teams will consist of two players, per team. The first team that scores 21 points wins. The best two - of - three wins in a match, or whoever may be leading at the end of a 45 minute time limit will be declared the winner of the match. Cost - $30 per team. League games meet on Wednesday nights beginning January 30 at Fairview Golf Course. The first match each evening begins at 6 pm. Space is limited to the first 24 teams and the league is filling up quickly. All schedules are final. Get and return your registration form to the Parks Office.
